From the Diary of Frederick W. Cool (1899)

Written in the handwriting of Frederick W. Cool of Pike County, OH:

January 1899

My father was born in 1791 in the State of New Jersey. His father emigrated from there to Pennsylvania and there lived and died there. My father's mother died when he was 2 years old. His brother, Peter, only a baby. Peter lived to be 90 years old. There is a set of Cools in about Sandusky, Ohio that is some relation to my father. My mother came from Ireland, crossed the sea when only 10 years old.

F. W. Cool was born March 10, 1822 on Coal Hill, now called Mount Washington, Pennsylvania, 1 mile from the city of Pittsburgh. Married at the age of 23 years to Eliza Owens, 20 years old, in May 29, 1845. Of this union, 11 children was born, 7 boys and 4 girls. There are 29 grandchildren & 15 great grandchildren. Moved from Pennsylvania to Jackson Co in May 20, 1864.

Willie Cool was born June 12, 1884--died November 14, 1892; 8 years, 5 months, 2 days
Nellie Cool was born November 1, 1886--died March 30, 1892; age 5 years, and 5 months.

Newspaper clipping:
Died: OWENS--March 25th, in Scioto township, Robert Owens, aged 63 years. He died at the residence of his niece, Mrs. Lewis Nye.
